I am from Munich, Germany and did my Bachelor and Master studies there. I have a Master in Science Education with emphasis on Chemistry and Biology for teaching professions (secondary school education) from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In
my Master Thesis I already focused on analytical chemistry and investigated the occurrence of catecholamine's and other biomarkers in stressed and non-stressed amphipods.
Currently I am a PhD student in the analytical laboratory of Prof. Dr.
P. Schmitt-Kopplin in the BioGeoChemistry Research Unit of the HemholtzZentrum Munich. My research interest is the isolation and characterization of new bioactive compounds from natural organic libraries. In particular I want to find new antiviral
compounds against HIV. To reach this aims I use the High-Content Screening (HCS) platform established by Dr. S. Kremb at the KAUST Red Sea Research Center in the laboratory of Prof. C. Voolstra and a HIV-1 screening platform at the HelmholtzZentrum
Munich in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. R. Brack-Werner. Together with analytical tools like liquid chromatography (LC) connected to a photodiode array detector (PDA) and fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR/MS) i want
to find novel bioactive scaffolds or/and compounds out of natural organic libraries like plants or algae.
