In our latest publication Till Röthig & colleagues report on the remarkable microbiome flexibility of the widely distributed deep sea coral E. fistula. The microbiome composition of E. fistula showed remarkable differences
between samples collected in situ and from long-term aquaria cultures. Thereby, such microbiome flexibility may help deep sea corals to thrive in the extreme environmental conditions of their environment.
