NonoSIMS analysis of nutrient cycling in Aiptasia

16 March, 2018

In our latest study by Rädecker et al. we validate the use of the Aiptasia model organism for the study of Cnidaria-Symbiodinium symbioses. By quantifying nutrient acquisition at the holobiont and the cellular level we show that symbiotic partners are selfish and directly compete for available nutrients. As such, this symbioses may be inherently instable making is highly susceptible to environmental changes, i.e. global warming.
